When the $0 NFA tax stamp took effect on January 1, 2026, the ATF received over 150,000 applications on Day 1 alone. Demand for ATF fingerprinting has surged. eForm 4 approvals with EFT files are averaging 4 to 18 days. Paper submissions with fingerprint cards? 57 to 286 days.
The difference is the file format. EFT files are processed electronically. Cards require manual handling. If you want fast approvals, you need a properly formatted EFT file from a provider who does this right.
