Any fingerprinting location, police station, or UPS store that offers ink fingerprinting on FD-258 cards. Most cities have multiple options. If you are overseas, most U.S. embassies and consulates offer ink fingerprinting or can refer you to a local provider. Call ahead to confirm they have FD-258 cards in stock, or contact us and we can mail blank cards to you.
Once we receive your card and scan it, results are typically available within 2 hours. Sometimes as early as 30 minutes. 48 hours in rare cases but it almost never goes past the 2 hour mark. Results are delivered via a secured portal link sent to your email. We only scan cards during Alexandria office hours (Monday through Friday, 11 AM to 5 PM ET).
We review the card photos to check for common quality issues like smudged prints, incomplete impressions, or incorrectly filled fields. If we spot a problem, we will let you know before you spend money on shipping so you can get re-printed locally. This saves time and prevents rejection by the FBI.

We walk it into the Department of State for expedited processing. $120 for the first document, $95 each additional. 7 to 10 business days with 2-day return shipping included. No. We scan the card digitally to submit to the FBI. The physical card is not returned. If you add Fingerprints on File, we store a digital copy so you can get future checks without a new card.
This is exactly why we ask you to send 2 completed cards. If the first set of prints is rejected, we submit the backup card at no additional charge. If both sets are rejected, you would need to get re-fingerprinted and mail new cards. This is rare, especially when we review the card photos upfront and flag potential quality issues before submission.
Yes. International customers can mail fingerprint cards to us from anywhere in the world. FBI background check results are emailed as a PDF, so no return shipping is needed for the background check. If you also need an apostille on that background check, international customers provide their own shipping label for the physical apostilled document.
For $20 per year, we store a digital copy of your fingerprints so you can request a new FBI background check anytime without getting fingerprinted again. Storage lasts up to 5 years. This is especially useful for people overseas who need updated background checks on a regular basis for visa renewals, work permits, or ongoing compliance requirements.
