Portugal’s immigration agency AIMA lists a recent criminal-record certificate from the applicant’s country of origin or permanent residence for investment residence (ARI), translated into Portuguese and certified by a Portuguese consulate or bearing an apostille. We handle the federal apostille when the document is a U.S. FBI report.

The FBI report is a federal document. Submit it for a U.S. Department of State apostille; a state apostille is not the route for this document.

AIMA’s ARI guidance explicitly calls for a Portuguese translation of the criminal-record certificate. It does not specify whether the apostille page must also be translated or which translator credential your individual filing requires; confirm those details before ordering.
AIMA says the criminal-record certificate must be issued less than three months before submission. This is an ARI rule, separate from the D7 and D9 visa checklists.
